I was dead wrong about keeping up with old coworkers on social media

I always thought it was pointless to stay connected with people from jobs I left years ago, but last month an old coworker from my waitressing days at Denny's messaged me about a legit remote job opening at her new company that pays $5 more an hour. Has anyone else had an old work contact come through with something unexpected?

Wait, is one decent job lead really that big of a deal though? I mean, it's cool she reached out, but it's not like she handed you a career or anything, just a slight bump in pay. Seems like a lot of drama over a pretty small win.

C'mon man. You don't get it. When you've been stuck in the same crappy job for two years, a $3-4 raise and a boss who doesn't scream at you is a huge deal. It's not just a job lead, it's a way out of a dead end. That's the whole point of the drama.
