My cousin the AI skeptic accidentally trained my smart speaker better than I could
My cousin Mark visited last week and spent 20 minutes yelling at my Google Nest because it kept mishearing his music requests. He insisted I needed to speak to it like a toddler with clear pauses and no background noise. I laughed it off but tried his method the next day and suddenly my commute playlist works every single time. Has anyone else found that terrible advice from a non-techy person actually improved your smart home setup?

Yep, I've had the same thing happen. My wife is not into tech at all but she kept telling me I was mumbling at our Alexa. Once I started saying commands like I was talking to a five year old with proper breaks between words it worked way better. Your cousin might be onto something even if he didn't mean to be. Sometimes the people who don't care about smart speakers end up figuring out the simple stuff that the rest of us overlook.

Right, because nothing says "cutting edge AI" like having to talk to it like it's a toddler learning colors. Pretty soon we'll all be pointing at lamps and saying "Alexa, LIGHT. GOOD JOB.
