I finally set rules for my dad borrowing my work truck.
My dad always takes my truck on Saturdays for his own jobs. I need it for my dog grooming to pick up shampoo and other stuff. I had to tell him he can only have it two times a month now. He did not like that and said family should share without asking. I understand his point, but my job comes first. Some say setting firm limits is healthy for family ties. Others think being too strict can cause fights. How do you handle saying no to family while keeping peace?

Tried setting a similar rule with my mom using my blender for her smoothie business. Ended up with kale all over my kitchen for a week because I gave in right away, lol. Setting limits is tough, but your job comes first, so stick to your guns. Maybe offer to help your dad find another solution on the weekends you need the truck.

That kale story is a perfect picture of why boundaries dissolve. Your mom turning your kitchen into a green crime scene is exactly what happens when we cave. I swear, family businesses operate on a different set of rules where your stuff becomes community property. Helping find another solution is nice, but sometimes you just have to say no and deal with the grumpy texts.

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty normal family to me.
