My power went out for a full day and I accidentally watched an entire season of a show I'd been avoiding.

We had a crazy storm here in Austin last week that knocked out the power for almost 24 hours. My phone was the only thing with a charge, so I finally started that weird show 'Severance' everyone talks about. I got so sucked into the weird office mystery that I finished the whole first season before the lights even came back on. What's a show that completely hooked you when you had nothing else to do?

Severance was actually a total slog for me. The pacing felt so slow, and the big mystery at the end just wasn't worth the wait. My "nothing else to do" hook was The Bear. That show has a crazy energy that just grabs you. I watched the whole first season in one sitting during a flight delay.

Honestly I used to think shows like that were just boring office stuff. But being stuck with no power made me give it a real shot, and the whole mystery of what they're actually doing just got under my skin. It's one of those shows where you keep saying just one more episode. For me it was The Last of Us. I put it off forever, then a sick day left me with zero energy to do anything else. I was fully invested by the end of the first episode.

Severance did the exact same thing to me last winter.
