Bought a $40 rice cooker at a thrift store and it cut my food costs by a third
Honestly I never cooked rice at home cause I always burned it in a pot. Found a basic Zojirushi at Goodwill for $40 and figured why not. Tbh it makes perfect rice every time so now I meal prep big batches for the week. I pair it with beans and frozen veggies and my grocery bill dropped from $80 a week to around $50. Has anyone else found one specific gadget that actually paid for itself fast?

Yeah it's crazy how a decent rice cooker changes everything. I had the same problem with burning rice in a pot. Picked up a basic one for $30 and now I use it almost every day. The thing that paid off quickest for me was an Instant Pot. Got it on sale for $60 and I make dried beans from scratch in about an hour. No more canned beans for $2 a can. Between the rice cooker and the Instant Pot my weekly food budget went from around $100 to like $60. Both paid for themselves in the first couple weeks easy.

Paid for themselves in the first couple weeks easy" yeah I feel that. I found a bread machine at a yard sale for ten bucks and now I'm that guy who brings homemade bread to parties. People act like I'm some master baker but the machine does all the work I just dump stuff in.
