My biggest budgeting win was a week of eating nothing but leftovers

Last month I decided not to buy any groceries for a whole week. I just ate everything already in my freezer and pantry. Turns out I had 14 frozen burritos, a bag of rice that expired in 2023, and three cans of tomato soup. I saved about $85 that week and cleaned out my cabinets. The only problem was day 4 when I had to eat pickles and crackers for dinner. Anyone else ever try a no-buy week and discover weird food combos?

$85 probably wasn't worth eating expired food that could have made you sick.

Respectfully @carr.xena stockpiling expired rice is a right of passage, not a health crisis.
