Spent 6 weeks trying to fix a $15 leaky faucet that needed a $2 washer
I kept buying new tools and watching videos thinking it was some fancy valve issue, but the old washer was just flattened after 10 years. Anybody else waste forever on something that turned out to be the simplest fix?

the old washer was just flattened" - man that hits hard. I spent 3 weekends messing with a toilet that kept running, bought new flappers and fill valves, even replaced the whole handle assembly. Turned out the chain from the handle to the flapper was just a hair too long and catching on something. 5 seconds with scissors fixed it. Its always the stupidest little thing that makes you feel like a genius and an idiot at the same time.

the chain from the handle to the flapper was just a hair too long" - dude that's my life right there. I had a similar thing with my garbage disposal where it just hummed and wouldn't spin. Watched like 4 YouTube videos about reset buttons and jam wrenches. Turned out there was just a tiny plastic cap from a bottle wedged in there. Fished it out with a pair of tongs and it worked perfectly. Felt like I'd won the lottery but also wanted to kick myself for not checking that first.
