That moment I realized my streaming subscriptions were quietly draining me

I was checking my bank statement last month and saw $87 going out just for Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Spotify. I hadn't used Spotify in like 3 months. Did the math and that's over $1,000 a year for stuff I barely touch. Now I rotate one service per month and save around $60. Anyone else find random subscriptions they forgot about?

Did you also find that one free trial you forgot to cancel from like 8 months ago? I swear I signed up for some random streaming service to watch a single movie and I bet it's still billing me every month. I'm almost scared to look at my statement honestly. Last time I checked I had a Crunchyroll subscription from that one week I got really into anime and never touched it again. My bank account is basically funding these companies at this point.

Honestly, I did the exact same thing with like three different services last year. My advice is to just rip the bandaid off and look at your bank statements today, not tomorrow. Set a timer for 15 minutes and go through every single charge. Tbh, I use a budgeting app that flags recurring payments automatically now, it catches stuff I forgot about. The key is to cancel the ones you don't use first, then keep track of the rest with a simple spreadsheet or note on your phone. Ngl, it feels way better to just handle it than worry about it for months.
