The difference a proper invoicing system made to my cash flow

I was using a spreadsheet for billing my HVAC jobs for 2 years and always had customers paying 45 days late. Switched to a real invoicing program with automatic reminders 6 months ago and now 80% of my clients pay within 10 days. Has anyone else seen that big of a change just from switching tools?

Did you notice a big difference in how your customers acted too? I had basically the same thing happen with my side handyman gig. I was using a free template and waiting 60 days for checks, then I switched to a real system with automatic follow ups. Within three months, I had most people paying in two weeks flat. It honestly felt like I was bleeding money before without even realizing it.

I'll push back a little here because I actually had the opposite experience with my own business. @taylorb94 your results sound great but when I tried one of those fancy invoicing systems all it did was annoy my regulars into going elsewhere. The old spreadsheet and a polite text reminder worked just fine for me, and I actually saw faster payments because nobody felt like they were getting hounded by a robot.
