Showerthought: My best day in the shop started with a broken drawer slide

Last Thursday, a client's big walnut dresser had a Blum slide snap right at the end of install. I had to hand-cut a new mounting block from scrap in about twenty minutes to keep the job on track. The client, Mrs. Jenkins, actually loved seeing the quick fix and said it showed real craft. Has anyone else had a simple repair turn a rough moment into a win?

It's funny how a broken part can force you to see the piece in a new way. You stop following the plan and just solve the problem with what's in front of you. That shift in focus is where the real satisfaction comes from.

Ever notice how the best fixes are the ones you have to improvise?
