Remember when you had to bring a physical portfolio to an interview?
I mean, I had a big interview in Chicago maybe 8 years ago for a design job. I spent a week printing and binding this perfect portfolio book. On the train there, I spilled my entire coffee on it. The pages were stuck together and stained. I had about 20 minutes before the meeting, so I ran into a FedEx office, paid like 60 bucks to print a rushed, basic version on plain paper. I walked in and just told them what happened. They actually liked the quick fix and said it showed I could handle a problem. Has anyone else had a tech or presentation fail that you had to scramble to fix last minute?

That's just making excuses for being unprepared.

Oh man, the "spilled my entire coffee on it" part is so real. Of course it happened on the train, the universe loves that kind of timing. Honestly, turning that disaster into a story about problem-solving is the best possible outcome. I bet that basic FedEx version looked more hardcore and committed than any fancy bound book ever could.
