Had a terrible record store day at Golden Age Comics in Chicago... or was it great?
Last Saturday I was digging through the back issue bins at Golden Age Comics and found a near-mint copy of Amazing Spider-Man #300 for $15, but the guy behind the counter said the price tag was wrong and tried to charge me $80. We argued for 20 minutes and I ended up walking out with nothing because the owner backed him up. Do you side with the store for keeping their pricing system or the customer who spotted a deal before the mistake was caught?

Honestly, sounds like the store was more committed to that $65 than to basic customer service. Tbh, I half expect they'll start charging admission just to flip through the bargain bins next time. Ngl, walking out empty-handed over a Spider-Man comic feels like a supervillain origin story in the making. That owner probably thinks he's running an auction house, not a comic shop.

Nah man, that's on the store. If your price tag says $15, that's the deal. Doesn't matter if it's a mistake or not, you honor it or at least meet the customer halfway. They just look greedy chasing that extra $65. Bad business, I'd shop elsewhere from now on.

And the worst part is, the store probably spent more in employee time and customer service dealing with the complaint than they would have just honoring the $15 price. Now theyve got a pissed off customer who is going to tell everyone they know to avoid the place. That kind of bad word of mouth spreads fast, especially in a small town or online. They could have turned the guy into a loyal customer for life over a $65 loss, but instead they chose to nickel and dime him. It's just shortsighted, plain and simple.
