Had to choose between a full run of 'Saga' or a mint copy of 'Amazing Fantasy #15' last month

A guy at the local con in Phoenix offered me a trade. I could take his complete 'Saga' run, issues 1-66, or a graded 2.0 copy of the first Spider-Man appearance. I went with the 'Saga' books because I actually want to read them, not just own a slab. It was the right call, I'm halfway through and it's incredible. Anyone else ever pass on a grail for something you'd actually use?

Damn, that's a wild choice to have. A 2.0 AF15 is still a monster key. But I get it completely. So was the trade straight across? No cash on top? That feels almost too good to be true. What was his angle, you think? Just wanted the reading copies more?

Honestly, I see this all the time now. People just value the actual experience of having and reading the books more than the slabbed trophy piece.
