Took my nephew to his first comic con last month.

He's 10 and only knows the movies. I bought him a classic X-Men comic, issue #137. He read the whole thing in the car on the way home. He kept asking me why Jean Grey made that choice. I had to explain 70s comic writing to a kid used to CGI fights. Anyone else had to bridge that gap for a new fan?

Totally get this. Tried to get my niece into Spider-Man with the original Secret Wars trade. She could not get why Peter would just talk to his enemies for three pages instead of punching them. Had to explain thought bubbles and how fights were more about the drama back then. She said it was like reading a play with pictures, which, fair.

Yeah, my little cousin said the same thing about old X-Men comics, called them all talk and no action. Kids these days just expect constant fighting.
