That time I accidentally replied-all instead of just reply on a company-wide email about the holiday party
I was sitting in my car outside the PetSmart in Kalamazoo, 10 minutes before my first groom of the day, and hit send on a sarcastic comment about Karen in HR's overpriced catering choices to the whole 300-person office instead of just my work friend Dave, and my boss called me within 60 seconds asking if I wanted to discuss my concerns directly.

My buddy did the exact same thing and had to sit through a 45 minute HR meeting the next morning.

And see that's the thing, people act like a 45 minute HR meeting is the worst punishment ever but honestly I'd take that over having to look Karen in the eye at the company potluck after she finds out you called her famous potato salad "aggressively beige" in an email chain that somehow looped in the entire regional office. My cousin did this exact thing except it was about the CEO's new haircut and he ended up having to transfer departments just to avoid the awkward elevator rides. The real lesson I learned from watching him is that you never hit send on anything that mentions food or hair unless you want it immortalized forever.
