Warning: I think we're getting too reliant on load moment indicators

Last week on a site in Cleveland, our LMI went blank during a critical lift. Three years ago, I would have stopped everything, but my training from a job in Pittsburgh back then kicked in. I finished the pick using just the load chart, the boom angle, and my spotter's hand signals. It made me wonder if we're losing the basic skills. Has anyone else had to work without the tech and found it changed how they operate?

You ever keep a cheat sheet of the common picks taped somewhere? I started doing that after my screen froze once.

Always keep a printed load chart in the cab.
