Can we talk about how many words Tolkien invented for Lord of the Rings?

I just read on a linguistics blog that he made up over 2,800 words for Elvish languages alone. Has anyone else found a cool fact like that about a fictional world?

Wait 2,800 just for Elvish? That's insane, he must have had no life outside of that.
