Hot take: I paid $40 for a random prompt generator app and it actually fixed my writer's block

I was stuck on a short story for like three weeks. Couldn't get past the first page. Saw this app called Prompt Master or something in the app store, figured $40 was cheaper than a therapy co-pay so I tried it. It gives you three random words and a setting. I got 'mailbox', 'broken clock', and 'apartment balcony'. Wrote a whole creepy story in one night about a guy finding letters from his dead neighbor. Has anyone else had luck with those paid prompt tools or are they mostly gimmicks?

Whoa, I mean it's just writer's block not a medical emergency.

That's an interesting take, but I see it differently. Over the years I've found that writer's block usually comes from trying too hard to force something. A random prompt generator might give you a starting point, but it's not fixing the real problem. The issue is more about getting comfortable with bad writing and just letting the words flow out. Spending $40 on an app feels like putting a bandage on a deeper wound. You could get the same result by looking out your window and picking three random things you see. Really feels like these tools prey on people who are frustrated and just want a quick answer.
