Our backup generator at the shop in Pontiac failed during the storm last night.

It's a 5-year-old unit we bought from a local supplier, and it just wouldn't start when the power went out around 8 PM. We lost a full day of production on a custom order. Has anyone had a good experience with a generator service company in Oakland County?

Remembered my buddy over in Rochester Hills had his brand new generator die during that ice storm in January. He found some guy named Mike who works out of his truck, charges way less than the big companies. That guy drove through the mess, figured out it was a bad fuel solenoid in like twenty minutes, and had it running with a part he just happened to have. My friend swears by him now.

Love stories like that. Those small independent guys with a truck full of parts are absolute lifesavers during a crisis. They know their stuff and actually care about helping people, not just making a big sale. Your buddy got seriously lucky finding Mike.

My neighbor in Waterford had a similar mess with his standby unit last year. He called one of the big national service companies, and they couldn't get a tech out for three days. A guy at the hardware store gave him a number for a father and son team that works out of Clarkston. They were there in two hours, found a cracked fuel line, and fixed it right in the driveway. Sometimes the smaller operations have way better response times when you really need help.
