Appreciation post: The $12 injector puller I laughed at actually saved my Saturday
Last weekend I had a stuck injector on a 6.0 Powerstroke and figured I'd just wrench it out like always. My buddy handed me this cheap harbor freight puller set and I honestly told him it'd snap in two minutes. Three hours later after beating on that thing with a dead blow and heat, that little tool finally popped it loose without breaking. Has anyone else had a cheap tool surprise them when the expensive stuff let them down?

Gently though, that slot screwdriver trick works until it doesn't (ask me how I know). Those cheap pullers have a way of earning respect, but the real trick is keeping the threads greased so they don't gall up on you mid-pull. I've seen three of those harbor freight pullers snap right at the forcing screw threads from people running them dry. A little anti-seize before you crank on it and that thing will outlast the snap-on version, funny enough. Not knocking the tool, just saying a dab of grease goes a long way with those budget sets.

Abby knows what's up. @abby_carr57 I've got the same one sitting in my drawer right now. That little puller has bailed me out more times than I wanna admit. I think my expensive snap-on stuff looks pretty but my harbor freight slot screwdriver has unstuck more rusty parts. The day that puller snaps is gonna be a sad day in my garage. Maybe I should buy a backup before it happens.
