My brother-in-law told me to use a 2-inch putty knife for spackling a whole wall. I should have listened.

Oh man, I learned the hard way that a 6-inch taping knife is way faster for that.

Wait, you were using something bigger than a 6-inch knife for taping? @viola_moore8, I tried a 12-inch once thinking bigger was better and it was a total mess. The mud just globbed up at the edges and I had ridges everywhere. That smaller blade lets you really control the pressure. I can't imagine going back to anything wider for most of the work.
