Switched from a 6 inch roller to a 4 inch for LVP glue-down and it cut my waste by a third

For years I used a standard 6 inch roller to spread adhesive for glue-down LVP, thinking bigger was faster. On a big job last month, my helper grabbed a 4 inch roller by mistake. We used it and I saw the difference right away. The smaller roller gave way more control, so we didn't slop glue past the edges of the planks. Over a 1200 square foot install, we used about 3 fewer gallons of adhesive than usual. That's less mess to clean and less money wasted. Has anyone else found a simple tool switch that made this big of a change?

Guess I've been wasting glue for years.

Oh man, my buddy did the same thing. He used a whole tube on a chair leg before someone showed him the dot method. Felt pretty silly.
