Recommendations for reliable movers in the Raleigh/Greensboro area?

Hey everyone, my family is gearing up for a big long-distance move from the Raleigh area out of state. I've been reading absolute horror stories online about moving brokers holding furniture hostage or tripling the price on moving day, so I'm trying to be super careful.

Can anyone recommend a genuinely reliable, good moving company around here? I'd prefer a local outfit that actually handles the move themselves rather than subbing it out to random people.

I'll second the recommendation for Excel. We hired their Greensboro movers when we relocated down to Florida a few months ago. The guy who came out to do our estimate was super thorough, and the final price actually matched what we were quoted. No hidden fees or weird surprises.

That's great to know about the pricing matching the quote. Half the battle is just getting an honest estimate upfront. I'm going to add them to my list to call next week.

The broker nightmare is so real. You definitely want to go with a direct carrier or an official van line agent. We did a cross-country move recently and used Excel Moving and Storage. They are an actual Allied Van Lines agent based right here in NC.

The crew that showed up in Raleigh was super professional, wrapped everything really well, and we didn't have a single broken item when they unloaded at our new house. Highly recommend them if you want peace of mind.
