My buddy had the same problem on a trip last fall. His pad was sliding all over the place inside his tent. He ended up putting a few dabs of silicone sealant on the bottom in little dots, letting it dry completely first of course. It created these tiny grippy feet. It worked pretty well for him, and it was basically free since he already had the tube of sealant. The shelf liner trick sounds a lot less messy though.

My old Boston fern taught me that lesson years ago. I was convinced it was getting a perfect sunbeam until I realized I'd basically baked it.
