I mean, idk, but seeing the forge where I learned the trade now serving lattes really drives home how things have shifted.

You asked about the story and if it was a choice or the market. I read an article in our local paper about a hardware store that became a candle shop. The owner's kid said they loved the business but just couldn't compete with the big box stores anymore. Makes a good point. Sometimes the market does demand a change, and the "pivot" isn't some cool plan but the only way to keep the lights on. It can still sting, knowing the original work is gone for good. The article said the family felt sad about it but relieved the building wasn't empty, which is probably how a lot of these places feel.

Finding my childhood star chart showed a huge shift in space pics

Honestly when you said the jump is incredible, that hit me. Tbh it’s wild to think we used to just connect dots on paper. Now my phone can show the actual Pillars of Creation like it’s a Google Street View for space. Ngl it kinda makes those old charts feel like ancient history, but in a good way. It’s cool that the magic is still there, just way more detailed. Makes you wonder what kids today will have in another twenty years.

Vent: Got asked to reuse old glass seals on a high rise job

Doubt those seals were gonna cause leaks or falls right away. Seen old parts work fine for years if they're not cracked or worn out. @emma53's horror movie plot seems like overkill, but yeah, better safe than sorry.

The way rulebooks are written now just bums me out

Remember some newer games actually nail the quick start guides. It's not all bad out there.

PSA: Stirring risotto non-stop for half an hour is worth it for the creamy texture!

Same with chili, jenniferr89, it really does get better overnight.
