Just saw my monthly spread turn into a scribble mess because I didn't leave enough space.
If you skip penciling in your monthly layout first, you'll end up with a tangled mess that's hard to fix.

Ever try roughing it out with pencil first, or do you usually just dive right in?

Used to be a total pencil planner, thought it was the only right way. Reading Shane's take actually made me stop and reconsider my whole process. That bit about over-planning killing the fun really hit home for me. I'm trying to let go and just start with ink more often now, embracing the messy parts. It's scary but feels way more alive. What's the worst thing that's happened when you've just gone for it?

Honestly, penciling everything first can make it feel too stiff for me. Sometimes I just start inking and adjust as I go, like leaving bigger gaps for busier days. It turns out more natural that way, even if it gets messy sometimes. Messy can be part of the charm, you know? I've learned to accept the scribbles as part of the process. Tbh, over-planning kills the fun for me.
