Just read that the average wedding dress uses about 15 yards of fabric

Honestly, I found that on a fabric supplier's blog while looking for silk prices. I always thought it was way less, maybe 8 or 10 yards. It makes sense when you think about big skirts and trains, but it still seems like a huge amount. On one hand, that's a lot of material and cost for something worn once. On the other, it's a special event and people want that dramatic look. Where do you all stand on using that much fabric for a single garment? Is it worth it, or is it wasteful?

Used to think it was wasteful, but seeing the price of silk changed my mind. That much fabric is a huge part of what you're paying for.

Yeah I used to think it was a bit much too, but @gray_patel has a point about the cost. When you see what that much nice fabric actually costs, it makes the whole price tag make more sense lol.
