I know everyone loves their Haas VF-2, but mine gave me a solid week of grief after a coolant line burst during a 500-piece aluminum run.

That's just how it goes with machines, right?

I used a heavy canvas drop cloth for a jacket and it's a weird mix of tough and stiff

Ever try washing it a bunch of times with some fabric softener? I did that with a super stiff denim and it helped a little. You could also try beating it up on purpose, like dragging it behind a car on a dirt road or something crazy. That canvas is meant to lay flat, so it's gonna fight you. Maybe try sanding the high-wear spots like the elbows and collar to force some breakdown.

Just read that air fryers can cut cooking oil use by 75% compared to deep frying. Found that stat in a cooking magazine at my dentist's office.

But does the food still taste good without all that oil?

Showerthought: I tried using a $15 thermal camera attachment on a stubborn laptop and it showed me a hot spot under the keyboard I never would have found with my usual tools.

You said "thermal camera attachment," but those are usually separate handheld units, right? The cheap ones I've seen plug into a phone's charging port. Still, it's wild how a simple hot spot finder can save so much time.

My neighbor in Bend said his old wool blanket is better than any sleeping bag

Remember how they used to make stuff with real cotton canvas back then? Now most tarps are that cheap plastic stuff that cracks after a few seasons. Makes you wonder if the old materials were actually better or if we just got used to things falling apart faster. Your grandpa probably bought that tarp once and never had to think about it again. Kind of a lost idea now.
