Old school torque wrenches versus the new digital ones...

Exactly. The hard data is what sold me too.

Just wasted $175 on a 'universal' torque wrench adapter that stripped a bolt head

Maybe, but that feels like looking for problems. Most fixes work fine for most people. The edge cases get too much air time.

My cousin in Austin said something about brisket that got under my skin

That "same brisket every time" line hits hard. I spent years chasing a mythical perfect smoke ring until a friend asked why my last one was so much drier. Now I just want my neighbors to know exactly what they're getting when I fire up the smoker. What's your go-to method for keeping things steady?

I tried being super direct in a salary talk and it totally blew up

Yeah, that "direct approach" thing happens a lot. I see it with friends trying to settle plans or even just giving feedback. Going from zero to a hard demand puts people on the spot and they just shut down. Like if someone texts "this restaurant you picked was bad" instead of "the service was slow, maybe try somewhere else next time." You gotta give the other person a way to save face, or they just get defensive and it's over.

Question about the new Samsung Bespoke fridge I saw at the Chicago Home Show

My old laptop has a USB-C port and I've definitely tried to shove a micro-USB cable in there out of pure habit, lmao. I can totally see someone's guest at a party going "oh your fridge needs a charge" and bricking the whole thing. It's a smart move for the techs, but they're gonna need a really obvious cover or a warning sticker shaped like a sad ice cube.
